Job Description:

Healthcare Executive Placements, Inc. (HCEPInc) is seeking an Interim Clinical Nurse Educator / Nurse Specialist, Labor & Delivery and Mother Baby  for a W2 Contract position based in Santa Clara, CA.
 

Schedule: Full time, 5 8's Days, 7am-3:30pm
Assignment Duration: 13 Weeks
Compensation: 
This position offers a daily rate of $640 to $665 which equates to $3,200 to $3,325 per week (based on a 5-day workweek)
Per Diems: Lodging: $192 per day and Meals & Incidentals: $92 per day
Per diems are paid daily, 7 days a week, totaling $1,988 per week
Total Weekly Compensation (Daily Rate + Per Diems): Between $5,188 to $5,313 per week

Position Summary:

Provides clinical education, training, and support to nursing staff to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality, evidence-based perinatal care. Responsible for assessing staff learning needs, developing competency-based education programs, and fostering clinical excellence in maternal and newborn care. In collaboration with nursing leadership and interdisciplinary teams, this position facilitates onboarding, continuing education, and quality improvement initiatives aligned with organizational goals and regulatory standards.


Essential Functions:


Education & Training

Develops, implements, and evaluates education programs for new and existing staff, including clinical orientation, continuing education, and specialty training (e.g., AWHONN fetal monitoring, NRP, BLS).

Facilitates simulation-based training and skills labs using labor/delivery mannequins and other tools to enhance clinical competence.

Provides bedside coaching and real-time instruction to support safe and effective clinical practice.


Competency Assessment

Conducts ongoing assessments of staff competency through direct observation, simulation performance, and skills validation.

Identifies learning needs and creates individualized education plans to support professional development and clinical growth.

Maintains documentation of training, validation, and ongoing education for compliance and auditing purposes.


Program & Curriculum Development

Designs and maintains educational materials, orientation guides, and learning modules based on current clinical guidelines and evidence-based practices.

Updates content regularly to align with regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and organizational policies.


Clinical Consultation & Support

Acts as a clinical resource and subject matter expert in L&D and Mom-Baby nursing practice.

Collaborates with nursing and medical staff to support evidence-based interventions, address care challenges, and improve patient outcomes.

Promotes patient safety and standardization of care through education and consultation.


Quality Improvement & Collaboration

Participates in quality and safety initiatives, including audits, mock codes, infection prevention, and response simulations.

Supports data collection and analysis related to clinical education outcomes, competency gaps, and training effectiveness.

Collaborates with clinical leadership to align education programs with unit goals and organizational priorities.


Professional Development

Stays current with maternal-child health best practices, emerging clinical guidelines, and continuing education requirements.

Participates in relevant professional organizations and internal learning opportunities.

Contributes to a culture of learning and clinical excellence across the perinatal care team.


Qualifications:


Current California RN license required.

Bachelor's degree highly preferred. Experience in lieu of degree will be considered.

Requires five years of clinical nursing experience in perinatal care (L&D and Mother-Baby), as well as demonstrated experience in an educational or advanced practice support role.

BLS & NRP required.
